In this thread we keep track of all changes and fixes done to VGATrader.com

7/25/2008
Added the "Check It" link on the page that shows the description of the card, pictures, and details about the seller. It allows for a quick verification of the provided Heatware ID and EBay ID feedbacks.

Our Security Procedures will be greatly enhanced soon, because of the behind-a-scenes involvement of some of the Internet trollhunters. Trollhunters are a group of volunteers dedicated to tracking down Internet con artists.
Crime does not pay at www.VGATrader.com!

We are going to revamp some of our internal procedures in order to prevent scams from happening. I am also in contact with a local Police Dept unit of Internet Crimes. We will discuss some of the procedures and I will try to get some ideas about templates for the legal documents and incident report forms.
Will keep you updated...

We have made some changes to our trading rules. As a seller, do not sell an item that is not in your direct possession. As a buyer, be ready to pay for the card right after getting a green light from the seller and of course have the appropriate funds available.

In addition, we have created official 3 day suspension notices and permanent suspension notices for those members who do not comply with our trading standards.  In addition, all email communication with our members will go through a 3rd party delivery confirmation service:

For new users that are selling or buying.
Please make sure their adresses are verified.
Only do business to ppl with unverified addresses if you know them or dealt with them before.
But to be on the save side pelase make sure all addresses are verfified.

Which can greatly help, if there are issues and soemthing happened. You will be able to get ur full refund back and officials can pay the scammer a visit at their personal location or atleast have a verified address to work with as a lead.

I am cooking some additional security features to address your concerns...
Stand by as they will be ready very soon  Cool

1. I am working on the ISP email verification which works almost as good as the address verification. Basically, you enter your ISP email that has to correspond to your IP in order to get verified.
In case of the trouble, ISPs are very cooperative in sharing a full info about the offender.
So this is a good balance between respecting someone's privacy AND having a potential to get the relevant info in case of trouble...
They have such a "ISP email verification" setup on ocforums.com and it does a very good job in keeping the trolls away.

2. Soon, when you create a listing in the "sell wizard", you will have an option to restrict your buyers to only those with the heat id, ebay id, or isp email verified status listed in the profile.

3. Likewise, if you are a buyer who searches for a card, you will have an option to filter out sellers without  the heat id, ebay id, or isp email verified status listed in the profile.

Again, these will be optional "condom" type of security features. Very easy to follow yet effective.

Added "Are you human" registration spambot trap as I have noticed an increase in spam registrations.
